John Crossman Shaping New Generation of Industry Leaders
Gainesville, Fla. – Whether it be a teaching environment with hundreds of real estate students or a formal retail conference with thousands in attendance, Crossman & Company President John Crossman is a much sought after teacher and speaker with a cutting edge message on work, life and success in the commercial real estate industry.
That was the case earlier this month when Crossman lectured to a class at the University of Florida in Gainesville. One of many stops on his busy schedule to solidify the firm’s reputation as an industry leader and innovator as well as one of the Southeast’s largest retail leasing, property management and investment sales firms.
“One of our core values as a company is education and developing future leaders in our industry. We just don’t just talk the talk. We truly believe in walking the walk when it comes to professional development, education and diversity,” Crossman said.
Serving Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, Crossman & Company just opened a Miami office and now has 25,678,368 square feet under leasing and management comprising of 347 properties.
Though a Florida State University graduate, Crossman is an Honorary Alumnus of the University of Florida, where he is often requested to lecturer on a number of topics designed to motivate, stimulate and educate.
Crossman was awarded the honor in 2014. He joined an impressive list that includes Florida Governors, U.S. Senators, educators, community leaders, athletes and coaches. He was recognized for outstanding service to the University and was designated by the Board of Directors of the Association as Honorary Alumnus.
In his expanding role as a thought leader, Crossman’s unique style and zeal is a perfect platform to reflect on his vast experience and deep understanding of today’s changing business environment.
“Sometimes it’s more than X’s and O’s. There are a lot of variables that need to addressing in order to jump start a career, maintain, succeed and balance everything that has to be accomplished,” Crossman said. “That level of satisfaction in life and work is something that needs to be discussed as well as career strategy.”
Crossman zeroed in on The Top 5 Career Killers in his presentation to a class at the David F. Miller Center for Retailing Education and Research at Florida’s Warrington College of Business.
“Besides a solid skill set, it’s also navigating professional relationships, meeting expectations from both employers and clients and avoiding pitfalls that can derail a career,” Crossman said.
In addition to Crossman’s personal message, the firm has developed several tools to support education and diversity in the industry.
Crossman & Company has created a Commercial Real Estate Guide about making the right career choices. The free guide is available for download in English, Spanish, and Portuguese at www.crossmanco.com. There are also a number of educational videos on the firm’s growing YouTube Channel.
